I roamed like a ghost
in the stretching wilderness,
The soul was choked in
emptiness,
the mind lost track of the
passing seasons,
and the identity was imprisoned
in harsh memories.
Tears would roll down my bearded
face
as I sat half-naked in the
biting cold,
and at other times,
I shivered under the scorching
tropical sun.
My eyes ached at the colors of
the rainbow;
the blossoming promises of
spring reeked of death.
The pain in the heart was like
opium
as I let grief become a way of
life.
I suffered,
I withstood,
I lingered,
and I evolved.
The frozen hands of time started
ticking.
The barren grounds
rumbled with an undercurrent of
seething lava.
The trampled spirit cried for a
new dawn.
My hand clenched into a fist
and the last trace of will
turned into resolve.
I rose above circumstance
to take the past by its horns
and to crack the whip at life.
I emerged
as a warrior of light.
