A sky full of stars

Things have become prettier,
beauty – more perfect,
language – flawless,
colors – more saturated,
life – optimized
with more time between the ticking –
a day has more than twenty-four hours now.

The trees have more fruit,
the forest has fewer trees.
There’s less doubt between strangers,
and more space between lovers.
The elegies have become more profound,
the spaces between words – more hollow,
Lips and breasts have become fuller,
words and feelings have become empty.
Outside, there’s less terror and more peace,
inside, there’s more terror and less peace.

I wake up in the morning,
heavy headed, foggy-eyed,
I look at myself in the mirror.
The outsider
waves back at me.
